Monoprinting Masterclass with Ann Bridges

I covered a sketchbook last night to take with me on my course. We had to take some sketches and photos of wild flowers as a starting point.

I just had a great day today when I went to the gallery of the The Royal Cambrian Academy in Conwy where they often have art courses. Today's course was a Monoprinting Masterclass tutored by Ann Bridges - printmaker.

Above are some of the prints I turned out in the morning session. Below, the afternoon samples. I was not quite as happy with those.

I sat between very clever ladies, the one on my right was a sculptor with a fine arts degree and the lady on the left was doing a fine art degree. The work above is the work of the sculptor and as you can see she used some of her samples to make a box!

The fish design used above was very successful and was made by Jenny who is doing the fine art degree.

Fishing and a circles book cover

Here are the book covers, front and back that I made with the cut-out circles posted here recently. I don't think they look all that bad finished. I'm taking them to SerenTex tomorrow to finish.

Here is a detail of the front cover.
BTW I found this interesting website last night Circular Theory - Overview - The Circular Theory - Circle is Absolute Intelligence

This is a photo of two boys being taught to fish by their dad. I'm not sure who is having most fun, the dad or his sons.

Another group fishing and this look like a father and two sons as well don't you think?

Cut-out circles

I've just been having a bit of fun creating more cut-out circles. We did these with Janine in SerenTex at our last meeting and next Tuesday we will be making books using one of the patterns.
I started rearranging them in various ways.

As I was coming home from Chester yesterday there was such a heavy shower of rain that the traffic slowed down almost to a stop. Just then I happened to look at my skirt and saw all these circles! So here is a photo of the circles around the hem.

A detail!

Nain in progress

Nain (GM) is slowly developing. She's had a bit of makeup and a manicure, plus a new pair of slippers. I don't think she's very interested in having a chat as she's turned her chair to the left, not conducive to conversation. I think she will have a table with her favourite books to balance the scene.

This is a piece of sculpture I photographed in Cannes recently and it suddenly struck me that it's another circle for my collection.

Another circle from Cannes.
The artist is the well-known Italian sculptor, Giacomo Manzu (1908 - 1991) and you can see the Grimaldi Palace Monaco in the background.

SerenTex and a collage of circles

We've had such a busy and exciting day. This morning some of the SerenTex group held a highly successful Coffee Morning led by Ann (Jones) at a local church with the proceeds going to St David's Hospice in LLandudno. We all had a meal at the Queen's Head, Glanwydden followed by a visit to the hospice to officially present our group work Llyn Dywarchen and a cheque of the money we collected during the year. The photo above shows the group with the framed work. More on SerenTex

Circles again

Sculpting with wire is hard work and my arms and thumbs are aching a bit today after all I did yesterday, so I gave the sculpting a rest and played with my circles instead.

This is made using yesterday's 'sort of a circle', which looks much darker than it should in my computer. I'll change it when I have 5 minutes.

This has just had a gradient added to it.

Sculpture and recycling

I must apologise at the beginning of this post for the quality of the images, but I so wanted to share them with you. My little camera is not working as well as it used to and I need to check my setting before I waste any more photo opportunities.

This is what I have been up to today, it is just work in progress at the moment. I will let you see it again when it's finished.
We enjoyed a wonderful course with Luned Rhys Parry a member of The Royal Cambrian Academy. She is a wonderful artist who works with recycled materials creating humorous montages. Have a look at her personal art here Oriel Plas Glyn Y Weddw :: Luned Rhys Parry The work below is by today's students and what was turned out was quite fantastic. Of course these are not finished either, but we all worked so hard between 10am and 4pm.

This is Miriam's work, she's my friend from SerenTex and I just loved it.

The two clever ladies who made these had been on one of Luned's courses previously and the work they turned out showed it too.

And this is the lovely young lady who shared her expertise with us all.

Yet a few more circles

I took this photo when DH's choir went on a trip to Canada and the USA 5 or 6 years ago.

I picked this tiny slice of a branch at Ruthin Craft Centre recently.

This was made using some wrought iron designs created using PaintShopPro during th last few days.

Circles again

Circles are everywhere. Have a look at this website that belongs to Arlee. breaking out in spots - DesignJournal - albedo I love this and the next post.
And below some more circles I found in my folders.
I almost forgot to mention that I will be busy posting on the SerenTex blog in a few minutes so you can see what we were up to yesterday.

More circles

This is a spare wheel on a beautiful old car I saw outside the Ruthin craft centre recently and below is an image from a building in Conwy.

I think I mentioned in my last post that I was going to a SerenTex meeting today? Would you believe that it involved circles? The workshop was taken by Janine who is a wonderful C&G tutor and she didn't let us know what we were going to do so it would be a surprise. So I'm going to share a few more from my stock of circles with you and tomorrow I will post about our SerenTex workshop.

This is a photo of a circle from the bedspread in our hotel room in Cannes recently.

The flower in a glass at a small cafe in Monaco on the same holiday.

This cake tin was brought to a SerenTex meeting and these are the ones left over.

I enjoyed playing with it in PaintShopPro X2.

This is what I did at my SerenTex meeting today.
