Will it be a quilt?

Quilting is not my forte, but this one seems to be turning into a quilt. It’s looking a lot more padded than I had imagined it would, so I have accentuated this by putting extra padding from the inside on all the circles and I quite like the effect, but what do I do next? Do I paint my canvas and stitch the quilt on it or do I add quilted borders to make it into a hanging?

purple cream black

Dark purply fabric, with mustard border. Cream or black. The actual quilted piece is A4 size.

painted An idea of what it would look like painted.

I'm not too good on advice re colours going together - but I think the black looks too harsh and the purple and cream look too plain, so I would go for the purple and mustard. Be interesting to see what others say.

It does look rather quilterly, doesn't it. I find the purple and mustard the most striking. It is certainly smashing. A great study in contrasts so that may be the appeal of purple and mustard with the red.

It's beautiful! I'm going to differ and say that I prefer either the purple or cream backgrounds which pick out the colours rather than echo them but that's just my humble personal opinion!!!

It is fefinitely a wall hanging. I prefer the purple border. The cream is stunning but may just be too strong and becomes the main feature. It is going to be fantastic - Mags the Quilter!

I like the painted one. What would it look like with an orange border?

We'll each give you a different opinion Mags, and you'll still have to choose just one! I do like the look of your painted version but think quilted borders would look good. No help at all am I?!

I like the black, it really makes the colours pop.

I have to laugh when I read all the suggestions :)Each one different!
It's down to my own choice after all. I've been dyeing fabrics to finish it and I'll be posting about my choice soon.

I like the purple and mustard but I like the drama of the black. What about a thin border of black and another thicker border outside??

Aren't we so lucky to have the luxury of a bit of technology to try out different colour ways. I printed off a piece of felt the other day to try out some different stitch pattern designs. Lovely work on your quilt so far.
