Embellisher group

The work above was done by the students on the Embellisher course at Plas Tan y Bwlch over the weekend. I was thrilled with the variety of work they created. The course was called Machine Felted Bags and Totes, but with hindsight it should have been called The Versatility of the Embellisher. I mentioned at the beginning of the course that I was very flexible and willing to do whatever they wanted. There were two complete beginners on the course and Christine told me at the end that very little housework would be done over the next few weeks! I think Ann will also be buying her own machine in the very near future. She is an artist and has some wonderful ideas on creating cartoon type art.

Christine, the lady on the left has invited me to teach a group in South Wales and she is even going to fetch me and bring me home. Won't that be lovely?

Joyce nearly finished her Tiffany bag and worked so hard right up to the last minute.
Christine designed her own bag and it's at the making up stage. Alison is doing a City and Guilds course and decided to design her bag using the work of Jackson Pollock. She made loads of really exciting samples and eventually prepared two pieces for the front and back of her bag, but I promised not to show her final work just yet.

Here is Alison having a little design session on my laptop.

One of my tote bags.

And an unfinished bag I used to demonstrate.

I just love this photo. Joyce is one of my friends who was on the Embellisher course and on the right is Pat whom I'd never met before, but she recognised me from my blog photo as she follows Digital Gran regularly. I hope she sees this. Hi Pat!

Plas Tan y Bwlch

I spent a very enjoyable weekend here at Plas Tan y Bwlch with a large group of like minded ladies. The small group of ladies attending my Embellisher workshop worked very hard but I will not share their work until tomorrow.
Instead here are some photos showing what a difference a night can make.

More snow and another bag.

We have had more snow on the hills and I couldn't resist taking even more photos. It was a sunny morning and the sun shone through the clouds. I thought you'd like to see my latest bag.

Another bag!

I've just finished another of my bags using the Embellisher. I was inspired by a photo of part of a Tiffany lamp which I played with in Paint Shop Pro.

Bits and bobs

Months ago I bought this beautiful scarf, but I rarely wear it as I don't have a bag that tones with it. So today I made myself a bag using the embellisher while it's still cold enough to wear my scarf.

You may wonder why I have a basket and red cloak on today's post? I made it yesterday for a school play, a modern Welsh version of Little Red Riding Hood. I hope it fits the little one who has to wear it.

Above is my first sign of spring. Someone is getting ready to go sailing! There's always a short break here during the winter.

Above is my favourite Trot Boat after it's makeover. I like the yellow bow.

Misty morning

JP, if you read this you can email me at margaret.rbts@virgin.net so I can email you privately. I believe there are one or two places left on my course which is at here Craft Weekend at Plas Tan y Bwlch.

Below are some photos I took of a misty morning on the estuary. They were taken every 5 minutes or so as the sun struggled to come through.

The one above is my favourite because I always love the way the trees come out in layers, fading the further away they are.

At the end of the day the sun is just about to disappear over the mountain, dripping it's gold onto the river.

My Embellisher class

I had a lovely class of ladies yesterday and as you can see from the photos it was a very good venue with plenty of room for us all and lots of windows. There were 18 members there and we had 5 Embellishers, 4 borrowed and my own and we managed quite well taking turns. They all had their sewing machines as well, so when they had used the embellisher some of them added stitch to it while the others used the embellishers.

I'm afraid I forgot to take photos of the final work and I'm very annoyed with myself. But I did take this ATC. It was particularly striking.

I took photos of people while they were working so this will give you a slight idea of the work they created and how much they were enjoying it all.

Short

I was making some ATC's using the Embellisher this afternoon and this one suddenly reminded me of the bushes I posted last night on my blog. Some hand stitching was added to it.

Here is a little close-up of the bushes.

This morning the Rainforest book I'd ordered arrived, I'd already seen a copy and I loved it, so of course really 'needed' it.
