SerenTex

I have just posted some images on the SerenTex Blog that I feel sure you will enjoy and I will also be posting again before the end of the evening.

After the sadness of the last few weeks we are getting on with things as Anne would have wished.

Yesterday was a fun day when Sue gave us a tutorial using an idea she'd found somewhere on the Web. Personally I thought that it was really not 'me' at all and I would not be able to do it. But by the end of the afternoon I found myself enjoying it. I will tell you mor about it on the SerenTex blog later on.

These were my journal pages. it's a bit worrying isn't it? :)

This and that

Creative grandchildren.

This was a surprise gift from my GD who is now doing a teaching course at Liverpool Uni. I love it and I can also add it to my collection of circles.

GS John sent me this photo of his clay modeling this afternoon. He is just 9 years old and I think they are very good. I hope Ifan and Huw and Charlie will also be doing something I can show you soon.

During this visit to Tenerife I decided to have a change from looking for circles and decided to look instead at straight lines. Try this idea when you are out with your camera, choose one area of interest and see how many interesting photos you can take. Before now I have gone out with the intention of looking for a certain colour, or a combination of colours e.g. pink and green. Decide to concentrate on textures perhaps or tiles? Taking photos like this I seem to find more unusual subjects to photograph.

Some of my straight lines were very boring, but I did find some interesting ones too.

I love this one, the shadow has almost turned it into a spiral.

I find this one quite interesting too.

A little boring perhaps, but I'm sure it can be used for something more interesting.

Another rather boring one but I'm sure this can also be used for something interesting!

Here is one that borders on being included with the circles.

This photo didn't turn out too well as it doesn't show the water flowing over the steps. It's a fountain.

Fun from Tenerife

This is the door of one of my favourite shops in Tenerife which is called Magic Marrakech.

And these are the wrought iron railings outside the shop.

The above images show the fun I had playing with the photo of the railings using Paint Shop Pro X3.

This is one of the many sculptures of fishermen seen here and there in Tenerife. This one is on the front at Los Cristianos.

And here is just a bit of fun again using the photo.

Textile art

These lovely cards were waiting for me when I arrived home from my holiday. As you can see the top one was made by Sue (Gallacher). The middle one was made for me by Joan (Park). How did she know I am now taking photos and images of interesting M's?
The bottom card was made by Ann (Thomas) who is the Education Officer at Plas. And shortly she will have a lot more time to persue her own talent - All the best Ann!
'Cyfarchion' is the Welsh for Greetings.

These photos above were sent to me by Christine Ellis who took the Embellisher course with me at Plas Tan y Bwlch. They show the back and fronts of the bag she finished after going home and I really appreciated her sending them to me. The finished bag looks great.

Home again

I've returned from a very relaxing holiday in Tenerife. I took my small Pentax Optio V10 camera with me, but I was sorry I didn't take my Lumix FX18 with me. The Optix doesn't have a view finder and It is very difficult to see the screen in the strong sunlight. I was stopped by one of the many people who sell electronic devices and cameras and was persuaded not to change the camera (I had some birthday money to spend)but instead to buy a covering to put over the the screen which was supposed to solve the problem, then he told me it was a good camera and if I exchanged my SD card for a HD one it would be like a new camera. Stupidly I did this, spending £100. I had to take the camera back as something happened to it and many of my photos disappeared as soon as I had taken around 60. I tested it a few times by downloading to the laptop and starting again, but each time I'd taken about 60 it happened again. He than exchanged the card for me, but I was certain this one was only an SD card almost the same as the one I exchanged. He would insist that, no, the technology was much better. In the end I gave up and the camera after spending all that money was no better than before. A lesson learnt! A very expensive one.

Our first day was very windy.

Just look at the flag!

But the wind didn't stop these people from exercising.

I found this nest near the hotel. Poor bird.

I'd also taken my Pogo with me, but all this messing about had put me off and I only printed a few photos and didn't even use my sketchbook and soluble crayons at all. I did buy a Moleskin Sketchbook and a ball point pen with the intention of doing some pen and ink drawings, but I only did one. I'm sure it will be used now that I'm home.

Then what did I do instead you might ask? Well, I read books I found in the hotel free library and relaxed to the extreme and feel much better for it.

Here are three photos I liked.

We had a royal welcome home they put up two flags for us on the castle.
