The photos are not exactly the right colours, but as you can see both have little red stickers. Yay! I am over the moon. They were both sold before lunch.

North Wales Embroiderers’ Guild Exhibition

This is just a reminder that the exhibition is held this coming Friday and Saturday.

                                                                          EG Exh 2011 001

I have finished my second piece of work and it was framed for me yesterday and I like this one better than my first attempt. What have I learned from this experience? It pays to study the same theme for a while and the second piece of work corrects the mistakes of the first. I hope the next attempt will be even better.

I forgot to photograph this one before it was framed and I have not been able to take a very good photo as it is now under glass.

We all liked this collage by Rhiannon at the SerenTex meeting yesterday and I hope to put a few more photos up on our blog later this evening.

Textile landscape

teasels 001

This piece was inspired by Angie Lewin’s work and a photo of some teasels I took when I was out walking on the estuary footpath and I started it at a lovely workshop with Stevie Walker. I was very pleased with it originally and then things started going wrong and I left it for months, but as I had already filled a form to say it was going into the North Wales Embroiderers’ Guild Biannual exhibition it had to be finished. The colours here are not perfect, but I wanted some idea of how it would look framed and it is being framed for me by Monday. Cutting it fine maybe, but that’s how I operate I’m afraid.

Here is the programme for the exhibition and those who have visited one before will know that it will be a feast for the eyes, so if you live within travelling distance please do come and see us. I promise you a great welcome and if you are there on Friday afternoon I shall be on the demonstration table between 3 and 5pm, so please ome and say hello.

Where does the time go to?

I’m still not back to my usual ‘fast and furious’ pace, but thankfully I’m getting better.

corsages 002

These are some of the corsages I’ve been making for a couple of local galleries, so you see I’m not completely idle.

Misc 024

I have just downloaded some photos that have been in my camera a while and I thought you would like these colours.

Ally Pally

I didn’t take many photos a the Knitting and Stitching Show this year, but I had to take this as a reminder of a wonderful way of using the things I pick up on my journeys wherever I go. The work is Gwen Hedley and I was tempted to buy one of them.

Ally Pally 008

I did let others take my photo though.

Ally Pally 001

With Dale (Rollerson) The Thread Studio where I buy a lot of my wool tops.

Ally Pally 015

With Paulene (Cattle) Stringy Cow who has a very successful shop called ‘Chalk’ on Wimbledon High street. If you live nearby it’s well worth a visit.

Ally Pally 011

With Anita Bruce, this lady’s work is wonderful so have a look at her website. Here she was showing me how useful her new iPad 2 is for her work.

Ally Pally 013

With Lorna (Rand) on the right. We were both manning the CTDG stand for an hour together where we met Kalpana Tapkire, a charming Indian lady who was visiting her daughters in London. She says her career is Interior Design, but her passion is embroidery.

Ally Pally Knitting and Stitching Show

Ally Pally 024

What a wonderful time I’ve had staying with my friend Pat, her husband David and Toby the dog. I think he remembered me from last year and gave me such a welcome. Pat drives us to Alexandra Palace and we went on Thursday and Friday. In my opinion the Knitting and Stitching show at Ally Pally is the best, but that doesn’t stop me from going to as many of the others as I can. I’m going to the Harrogate exhibition before long.

It’s very difficult to start blogging again after taking a break and this has been the longest break I’ve taken for many years, but I am really back this time. I intend to play catch-up and try and post date them. The Digital Gran blog is my diary and if I want to know what I was doing at a certain time I go and check it on the blog. I was never any good at keeping a proper written diary, but I have always enjoyed blogging.

I’ve also posted on Croesew and SerenTex which I have also neglected recently.

This is probably enough to break me in gently, but you may like to take a look at the blog tomorrow to see if I keep my promise to myself.
