The North Wales Embroiderers' Guild Biennial Exhibition

I'm glad to report that I am finally feeling better after a nasty virus which lasted over 6 weeks.
This weekend the North Wales Embroiderers'Guild held their biennial exhibition which was highly successful and I'm sure everyone who visited enjoyed the wonderful work made by the members during the last two years.

Here are three very happy looking ladies, don't you find that people who work with textiles always seem to be happy? That was just 'by the way'. The lady on the right of the photo is Voirrey of the Voirrey Embroidery Centre on The Wirral. Visit the website to read all about it. Visiting the website brought back memories of a very happy weekend I spent in the area in 1999, read all about it here. Voirrey opened the exhibition and judged the entries. Our Chairman Moya McCarthy is in the centre and Sue Gallagher, who was the Exhibition Co-ordinator is on the left.

There were two awards - The Joyce Stubbs Trophy for traditional embroidery and the winner of this award was Judy Roberts for her wonderful Red and Black Faces. I apologise for the quality of this photo as it was under glass.

And the Dawn Roberts Wild and Wacky award for a piece made from recycled materials. The winner of this award was Helen Wilkie with her wonderful Shoe "With A Spring In Her Step". Dawn would have loved this.
Some of you who have been reading my blog regularly may have seen Dawn's work here and here

The bowl that was presented was also made from recycled materials.

It will take me a couple of days to blog all this and I hope you will share a little of the enjoyment we had at our exhibition.
